Louisiana Cajun Seasonings

There are many options when it comes to Louisiana Cajun seasonings. Some are more suitable for day to day use and some are more for special spicy occasions such as Cajun seafood boils. Below I list my favorites based on years of trial-and-error, my preference, and feedback from family and friends. They are grouped based on everyday use vs specialty use. For those that are available to order online, I will post links. I know there are some areas where Louisiana Cajun seasoning is not available in stores to hopefully the links I provide will be useful.

Cajun Seafood Boil Seasonings

Louisiana Fish Fry Products makes my favorite Cajun seafood boil seasoning blend. Use it for Crawfish, Shrimp, and Crab boils. This is my go to seasoning for any type of seafood boil. It has a nice blend of salt, spice, and Cajun flavor which makes is great for all types of seafood boils. Not for everyday use! Find it here

Zatarain’s Crab Boil is a New Orleans original Cajun seafood boil seasoning blend. This is similar to Louisiana Fish Fry Seafood Boil seasoning but it a little more spicy. I use this occasionally when I want a little different flavor in a seafood boil. I like the fact that it is available in a jar where I can conveniently use a few scoops as desired. One good use is during the cooler steaming phase when boiling crawfish or crabs. Find it here

Zatarain’s Liquid Crab Boil adds another layer of flavor to seafood boils. Use in combination with seafood boil seasoning when boiling crawfish, crab, or shrimp. Find it here

Everyday Cajun Seasonings

For everyday Cajun seasoning, I use another Louisiana Fish Fry Product called Louisiana Cajun Seasoning. This goes good on all types of other food where you want a little more flavor and spice. It is not too spicy. Of all seasoning I have this one is used the most. Its good on chicken, beef, pork, fish, pasta dishes and more. Find it here

Tony Chachere’s seasoning is another everyday Cajun seasoning. (I know it says Creole but that doesn’t make much difference). I use Tony’s occasionally but I do find it a little saltier than Louisiana Cajun Seasoning. It is good on chicken, beef, and seafood. Find it here

For a spicier flavor, “Slap Your Momma” definitely does not disappoint. I use this sparingly on a dish if I want to add more spice but not make food too salty. It goes well on seafood, chicken, pork, pasta dishes and more. Use sparingly! Find it here
